Fujifilm X-E5 Release: Rangefinder-Style Camera With IBIS and Film Simulation Dial

Fujifilm has officially launched the Fujifilm X-E5, a mirrorless digital camera that marries modern features with classic design. Compact and lightweight at just 445g, the X-E5 incorporates Fujifilm’s fifth-generation imaging technology and delivers high-end functionality in a retro-inspired rangefinder body.

Classic Design Meets Modern Technology

The Fujifilm X-E5 Release features a single-piece aluminum top plate that enhances both durability and tactile feedback. Its metallic finish highlights the heritage design, while the integrated FS (Film Simulation) dial lets users create and save custom film simulation recipes, labeled FS1, FS2, and FS3.

Fujifilm includes a flush electronic viewfinder and an intuitive control lever on the front, allowing users to toggle between new framing guides like black borders, outlines, or transparent overlays. These tools assist in composing shots with greater precision.

Enhanced Image and Video Capabilities

The X-E5 brings significant updates to performance. It’s powered by a 40.2MP back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 engine, enabling high-resolution photography with reduced noise and improved light efficiency. Native ISO starts at 125, and the camera can shoot at up to 6.2K/30p for video.

Advanced subject detection autofocus, built using deep learning, ensures accurate focus tracking on a variety of subjects—even in low-contrast scenes. The electronic shutter reaches up to 1/180,000 sec, giving users extreme speed flexibility.

Versatile Display and Controls

The rear LCD tilts up to 180 degrees, making the X-E5 ideal for selfies, vlogging, and flexible composition. Its compact kit comes with the newly announced FUJINON XF23mm F2.8 R WR pancake lens, which maintains sharpness and portability.

New IBIS System and Digital Teleconverter

For the first time in the X-E series, Fujifilm includes in-body image stabilization (IBIS). With up to 7 stops of shake reduction at the center and 6 stops at the frame edges, the new gyro sensor and IBIS algorithm provide stability for both stills and video. A built-in digital teleconverter offers 1.4x and 2.0x zoom options, allowing for tighter framing without major loss in quality.
