Bettina’s award-winning photograph was shot inside the surreal Katla Ice Cave, a natural wonder that added depth and magnificence to the scene. This incredible image didn’t just win the Grand Prize—it also secured victories in the Epic Location and Emerging Artist categories, firmly establishing Bettina as one of the top wedding photographers of the year.
The photo features Mauli and Christian, a couple who exchanged their vows atop a glacier during a breathtaking sunset. Bettina’s lens immortalized their unique wedding, blending human emotion with the raw power of nature. Reflecting on her rapid rise from kindergarten teacher to celebrated wedding photographer in just five years, Bettina described the honor as “the absolute Iceland on the cake.”
A Record-Breaking Competition
This year’s competition saw an impressive 2,000 entries from photographers across 63 countries. Luke Simon, the awards curator, expressed his amazement at the skill level displayed, highlighting the 50% growth in submissions compared to previous years.
Ewelina Puk, the competition’s runner-up, captured the vibrant energy of a wedding party with her winning entry in the Dance Floor category. Other winners demonstrated excellence in categories such as Couple Portraits, Black & White, Solo Portraits, and more, showcasing the diverse creative approaches photographers bring to wedding celebrations.
