Lexar Stainless Steel SD Card, a groundbreaking innovation in storage technology, was unveiled at IFA 2024 in Germany, marking a significant milestone in the industry. Alongside this world’s first stainless steel SD card, Lexar introduced an array of next-generation memory solutions, including CFexpress 4.0 cards and an SD 8.0-compliant SDXC Express card, all promising exceptional performance.

The Lexar Armor Gold and Silver Pro SD UHS-II cards, crafted from 316 stainless steel, offer unmatched durability and resilience. These cards feature IP68-rated waterproofing, dustproofing, and enhanced bend resistance, making them ideal for demanding environments.

Capable of delivering read speeds up to 280 MB/s, the V60-rated Armor Gold and Silver Pro cards also offer impressive write speeds—up to 160 MB/s for the Silver Pro and 205 MB/s for the Gold edition. These cards will be available in capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB, though pricing and release dates have yet to be announced.

High-Speed Innovation: Lexar Professional Gold Pro SDXC Express Card

Lexar also showcased the Professional Gold Pro SDXC Express Card, a high-speed SD card adhering to the SD 8.0 specification. This card, capable of theoretical speeds up to four gigabytes per second, delivers real-world read speeds of 1,700 MB/s and write speeds of 1,000 MB/s, outperforming previous SD 4.0 cards by over five times.

However, realizing these speeds depends on the compatibility of the host device with SD 8.0’s PCIe 4.0 technology.

Similarly, Lexar’s CFexpress 4.0 cards, including the Diamond CFexpress Type B card, require compatible devices to reach their full potential. Designed for 8K RAW video recording, the Diamond Type B card offers read speeds up to 3,700 MB/s and write speeds up to 3,400 MB/s.
