ARRI has introduced the ALEXA 265, offering a revolutionary step forward from its predecessor, the ALEXA 65. This advanced camera is designed to meet the evolving demands of filmmakers by combining a lightweight body with cutting-edge technology.
Compact and Lightweight Design
Weighing just one-third of the ALEXA 65, the ALEXA 265 sets a new standard for portability. Despite featuring a 65 mm sensor three times the size of its predecessor’s, the camera measures only slightly larger than the ALEXA 35. Weighing 3.3 kg and incorporating ARRI’s latest cooling and power management technologies, the ALEXA 265 is ideal for challenging shooting conditions, including drones, stabilizers, and confined spaces.

Enhanced Image Quality
At the heart of the ALEXA 265 is a redesigned 65 mm sensor, delivering exceptional dynamic range and sensitivity. With an increase to 15 stops of dynamic range and a base sensitivity of 6400 EI, the camera excels in capturing high-quality images with deeper blacks, better contrast, and minimal noise. This sensor upgrade reflects over a decade of feedback from ALEXA 65 users.
Simplified Workflow
The ALEXA 265 adopts the LogC4 workflow and REVEAL Color Science from the ALEXA 35, ensuring seamless integration into existing production pipelines. Filmmakers can record ARRIRAW directly to Codex Compact Drives, which are compatible across ARRI’s current lineup. Support for Codex High-Density Encoding (HDE) reduces file sizes by up to 40% while maintaining image integrity. The system also allows flexible monitoring options in HD, UHD, SDR, and HDR.
Innovative Filter System
The new filter cartridge system in the ALEXA 265 brings unprecedented convenience and creative flexibility. Filter trays slide directly in front of the sensor, with encoded chips ensuring metadata capture for precise post-production workflows. Available options include ARRI’s FSND filters and additional creative options in development.
Advanced Color Science
Building on ARRI’s REVEAL Color Science, the ALEXA 265 processes images with unparalleled color accuracy and tonal subtlety. This technology ensures natural skin tones and vibrant, realistic colors across a wide spectrum. Additionally, LED calibration improves performance in virtual production environments.
A New Chapter for 65 mm
With its innovative features and portable design, the ALEXA 265 redefines the creative possibilities of 65 mm filmmaking. Scheduled for release in early 2025, this camera is set to expand the accessibility and application of this iconic format for filmmakers worldwide.
