Blackmagic Design proudly introduces the Ursa Cine Immersive as the first commercial camera system engineered to capture Apple Immersive Video, catering specifically to Apple Vision Pro. Starting today, creators can reserve their cameras, with deliveries slated for late Q1 2025. Supporting the new camera system, DaVinci Resolve Studio will receive an update early next year, enabling an end-to-end workflow for immersive content creators.
A Game-Changing Lens System
The Blackmagic Ursa Cine Immersive features a custom-built, fixed dual-lens system optimized for Apple Immersive Video. Designed to complement the camera’s large-format image sensor, the lens incorporates highly accurate positional data, calibrated and stored during manufacturing. This essential data integrates seamlessly into post-production through Blackmagic RAW files.
Behind each lens lies a sensor delivering an impressive resolution of 8,160 x 7,200 pixels per eye—surpassing 8K resolution for each eye. Blackmagic promises 16 stops of dynamic range and 90 frames per second for 3D video recording, merging both signals into a single file. The system also includes Blackmagic’s fifth-generation color science with a new film curve, an 8TB media module, and a license for DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Enhanced Workflow with DaVinci Resolve Studio
The upcoming update to DaVinci Resolve Studio will introduce advanced features to handle immersive video content. Editors will gain access to an immersive video viewer for panning, tilting, and rolling clips on 2D monitors or Apple Vision Pro devices. Additionally, FCP XML metadata will allow users to bypass Apple Vision Pro transitions, offering clean master files. Export presets will further streamline the process, enabling creators to quickly output content optimized for Apple Vision Pro.
