Cosina is set to release three new Cosina Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 50mm f/3.5 VM-mount lenses to mark its 25th Anniversary. Known for their timeless design and precision optics, Voigtlander lenses draw inspiration from the classic aesthetics of rangefinder lenses from past decades.
These 50mm f/3.5 lenses boast a durable all-metal body, a full-frame image circle, and compatibility with M-mount camera systems. What sets this release apart is the limited-edition availability in three distinctive colors: Olive, Gray, and Navy. These signature shades embellish the meticulously machined focus ring and slimline lens hood.
To honor the milestone, production is restricted to 750 units, with 250 lenses crafted in each color. Each lens features a unique engraved serial number, reinforcing its exclusivity.
Exceptional Optical Performance
The APO-Lanthar 50mm f/3.5 showcases a finely machined all-metal helicoid unit, delivering smooth and precise manual focusing. Its high-precision rangefinder coupling system ensures accurate focus, even at wide-open apertures.
Beyond its striking 1950s-inspired design, the lens excels in optical performance. It incorporates an eight-element, six-group assembly, including four elements crafted from anomalous partial-dispersion glass. This construction ensures outstanding clarity. The apochromatic (APO) design virtually eliminates axial chromatic aberrations, enhancing resolution and contrast.
With its 10-bladed aperture, the lens provides exceptional subject separation and creates beautiful background effects when used wide open. Compact and lightweight, the lens measures 52 x 45mm (2.05 x 1.77 inches) and weighs only 235g (8.29 oz), making it perfect for rangefinder cameras.
Each limited-edition lens comes with a matching metal lens hood and a custom cloth bag, completing the premium experience.
