DJI has introduced the Osmo Mobile 7 and Osmo Mobile 7P, marking a major leap in smartphone gimbal technology. Unlike previous annual releases, this seventh-generation model arrives after a two-and-a-half-year wait, bringing significant improvements.
Built-in Mini Tripod and Compact Design
Both DJI Osmo Mobile 7 and 7P now feature an integrated mini tripod that retracts into the grip, offering enhanced versatility. Even when the tripod is folded, a ¼” thread remains available for added mounting options. These gimbals accommodate smartphones measuring 6.9-10mm thick, 67-84mm wide, and weighing 170-300g.
A 3350mAh battery powers both models, delivering up to 10 hours of use and fully recharging in just 2.5 hours via USB-C. The multifunctional module, designed to enhance tracking and lighting, comes bundled with the Osmo Mobile 7P, but Osmo Mobile 7 owners must purchase it separately.

Key Differences: Osmo Mobile 7 vs. 7P
The Osmo Mobile 7P includes more professional features and is slightly heavier than the standard version. One major addition is its built-in 215mm extension rod, which the Osmo Mobile 7 lacks, making it more compact and lightweight.
Another standout feature of the Osmo Mobile 7P is a side control wheel that adjusts zoom and manual focus. A long press of the wheel also controls the brightness and color temperature of the multifunctional module’s fill light.
Apple Watch Compatibility & Advanced Tracking
Both models integrate seamlessly with the Apple Watch, allowing users to control the gimbal remotely via the DJI Mimo app. Additionally, DJI’s seventh-generation stabilization system and ActiveTrack 7.0 ensure smooth footage, even in dynamic environments.
The Smart Capture function enables multi-subject detection, letting users select or switch between tracked subjects with a simple tap.

Multifunctional Module – Enhanced Tracking and Lighting
This new magnetic accessory improves subject tracking accuracy and quickly reacquires a subject if they leave and re-enter the frame. The module also includes a bi-color light (2500K-6000K) with a maximum output of 40 lux at 0.6m distance.
With hand gestures, users can start/stop recording, take photos, activate tracking, or adjust framing. Additionally, the module functions as a microphone receiver, transmitting audio through a USB-C connection while also delivering power.
However, using the module affects battery life:
- 5 hours with intelligent tracking enabled (fill light off)
- 4 hours with tracking and maximum brightness fill light

Pricing and Availability
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 is now available for $89 (€99 including VAT in Europe), while the Osmo Mobile 7P, which includes the multifunctional module, is priced at $149 (€159 including VAT in Europe).
