Hasselblad XCD 75mm f3.4 P Lens: Compact and Lightweight

Hasselblad expands its XCD Portable lens lineup with the release of the Hasselblad XCD 75mm f/3.4 P, the first standard lens in its “P” series. This lens, offering a 59mm full-frame equivalent focal length and a maximum aperture of f/3.4, is particularly suited for environmental portraiture, street photography, and documentary work. Although Hasselblad provides faster portrait lenses, the f/3.4 aperture on the Hasselblad XCD 75mm delivers a depth of field comparable to an f/2.8 on a full-frame camera.

Compact Design Meets High Performance

Engineered for agility and performance, the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P boasts a design focused on lightweight construction and exceptional optical quality. It consists of 10 elements in as many groups, with one aspherical element and three ED elements that contribute to high resolution across the frame, even wide open. Crafted to meet the demands of Hasselblad’s high-resolution cameras, this lens maintains sharpness from center to edges.

The XCD 75mm measures only 71 millimetres (2.8 inches) in length and weighs a mere 398 grams (14 ounces), retaining the compact and lightweight characteristics that define the XCD P series. It incorporates Hasselblad’s iconic “H” pattern on the focus ring and a robust metal exterior. Focusing utilizes a lightweight linear stepping motor paired with a smaller focusing lens group, enabling swift and precise autofocus performance.

When connected to a Hasselblad X System or V System camera with phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), the Hasselblad XCD 75mm provides smooth, quiet, and versatile focusing. Like all Hasselblad lenses, the XCD 75mm f/3.4 P includes a leaf shutter that offers shutter speeds up to 1/2,000s with full flash sync at all speeds, setting it apart from many other systems.

The Hasselblad XCD 75mm f/3.4 P lens is now available at €2529. Hasselblad has also released the X Extension Tube (9mm) for €339, which allows closer focusing by extending the distance between lens and sensor. This tube works with X System, 907X cameras, and XCD lenses, enhancing close-up performance.
