Nikon Rec.2020/N-Log LUT Released for N-RAW in Premiere Pro

Nikon Releases Rec.2020/N-Log LUT for N-RAW Workflows in Premiere Pro

Nikon has announced a new RWG/Log3G10 to Rec.2020/N-Log LUT designed for editors working with N-RAW footage in Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta). This LUT provides an accurate color transform that replicates the familiar Nikon N-Log look within a Rec.2020 container, removing the need for custom color conversion workflows.

When N-RAW footage is imported into Premiere Pro, the software currently interprets it as RED Wide Gamut (RWG) with Log3G10 gamma. Nikon’s LUT bridges this gap by translating that image data into the Rec.2020/N-Log color space, ensuring consistent monitoring and grading that aligns with Nikon’s intended look for N-Log material.

What the LUT Does

The new Nikon Rec.2020/N-Log LUT converts RWG/Log3G10 footage into Rec.2020/N-Log, giving editors the same color response as Nikon’s N-Log within a broader Rec.2020 environment. It’s especially useful for maintaining visual accuracy in post-production, ensuring color consistency across devices and displays that support the Rec.2020 gamut.

This release complements the current Premiere Pro (Beta) behavior for N-RAW footage, making the LUT a vital addition for anyone working with Nikon’s new N-RAW format.

Formats and Compatibility

Nikon provides two versions of the LUT in .cube format:

  • 65-point LUT (recommended) for maximum precision.
  • 33-point LUT for lighter systems that may not handle 65-point LUTs efficiently.

The LUT is compatible with macOS Ventura 13, Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15, and Windows 11. Nikon confirms testing with Adobe Premiere Pro (Beta), emphasizing that the LUT applies to cameras capable of N-RAW recording—such as the new Nikon ZR.

Practical Notes for Nikon Shooters

For editors delivering projects in Rec.709, this LUT can still be used as an intermediate monitoring transform. Apply it during editing, then add a subsequent Rec.2020-to-Rec.709 conversion or switch to a dedicated Nikon N-Log to Rec.709 LUT later in the color grade.

If your system struggles with large LUTs, the 33-point version provides a faster, lightweight alternative with minimal quality compromise—ideal for offline edits. For smaller post-production teams, this free LUT represents an easy quality-of-life upgrade while Adobe continues to refine native N-RAW color management.

The RWG/Log3G10 to Rec.2020/N-Log LUT (Version 1.00) is now available for free download from Nikon’s official Download Center.

Whether you plan to use it as a temporary monitoring LUT or as your baseline transform throughout delivery, this release simplifies Nikon’s N-RAW workflow and keeps your color grading pipeline consistent with Nikon’s imaging standards.
