Fujifilm is set to take the photography world by storm with its upcoming medium-format rangefinder, the Fujifilm GFX100RF. While Ricoh aims to rival the highly popular X100VI, Fujifilm seems to be working on something more ambitious. According to recent leaks, the GFX100RF will feature a 100MP GFX sensor, promising exceptional image quality.
Compact Design with Medium-Format Power
Reports from trusted sources suggest this camera will adopt a rangefinder design similar to the X100 series, complete with a hybrid optical and electronic viewfinder. Earlier patent leaks had already hinted at Fujifilm’s plans for a fixed-lens medium-format model, and the GFX100RF seems to be the realization of this concept.
Rumors indicate that the camera will boast a compact design, comparable to the Fujifilm X-Pro 3, which houses an APS-C sensor. It will be fascinating to see how Fujifilm integrates a medium-format sensor into such a small body, potentially redefining the compact medium-format camera market.

The lens on the GFX100RF is expected to be a fixed 35mm medium-format lens, equivalent to a 28mm full-frame field of view. Speculations also point to a maximum aperture of F/3.2, offering depth-of-field characteristics similar to F/2.5 on full-frame systems.
Surprisingly, the GFX100RF might forgot in-body image stabilization (IBIS), a decision that diverges from Fujifilm’s existing GFX50 and GFX100 models, both of which feature IBIS. This omission likely aims to maintain the compactness of the GFX100RF. While this choice may disappoint some users, it underscores Fujifilm’s focus on delivering portability.
The Fujifilm GFX100RF is rumored to hit the market by March 2025, potentially setting a new standard for medium-format cameras. Photographers eagerly await this blend of compact design and high-resolution imaging.
